Problem

While running the installation script, the following errors can be encountered:

Both are caused by the same problem: "The access control list is not in canonical form".

Solution

  1. Open Windows Explorer
  2. Navigate to the parent folder where the folder is located that the script was trying to access. In the example screenshot, BudgetTestApp is the folder that the script is trying to access and the parent folder is: C:\inetpub\wwwroot, so we navigate to this folder.
  3. Right-click the target folder (e.g. BudgetTestApp in our example).
  4. Click the Properties item from the menu
  5. Go to the Security tab.
  6. Windows will now warn you of the same issue as the installation script ran into and ask you to fix it.
  7. Click OK.
